The singer\bassist for the group 3 Days Drunk is donating a portion of his profits from any 3 Days Drunk song sold between Dec 8 and Christmas from iTunes to Toys for Tots.

Local Indy musician gives back.

The singer\bassist for the group 3 Days Drunk is donating a portion of his profits from any 3 Days Drunk song sold between Dec 8 and Christmas from iTunes to Toys for Tots.

We have been in a recession for a couple of years now and folks are struggling to make ends meet. I have seen how tough some folks have it and I just thought what could I do to give a little back. I feel lucky that I still have a job which allows me the ability to pursue my music so I figured that I could give a little back through my music. Music sales are in the decline and the whole industry has been changing over the past few years. However, these changes have allowed independent artists, like myself, to be able to record and put out their music for a low cost. It really doesn't cost me anything to record an original song since I have my own studio. Recording and releasing a cover song costs me a little more due to licensing. I also have teamed up with a group that gets an artist's songs up on iTunes and pays a high return to the artist. This allows me to collect a higher payout per song as an independent than most major artists.

Its due to this higher payout that I came up with the idea that I could give something back to charity this year. I chose Toys For Tots because of the work they do and, being a veteran, I have a lot of respect for these guys. Every child deserves to get a present on Christmas and these great folks try every year to make that happen. Being a small independent artist if feel that I am lucky in the fact that I can afford to do what I do. So this is my little way to give back. It would be great to have everyone buy one of our songs as the more that is sold the bigger the donation I will make.

Greg is the singer\bassist for the group 3 Days Drunk. He is also an independent recording engineer\remixer who has done work for major label and independent artists.

3 Days Drunk is a collaboration between 2 friends who use to play together while living in Japan during the 1990's. As life got in the way and connections were lost, the creative juices would be renewed when Greg asked Bow to help collaborate on a remix, which turned into a cover tune and the first release from 3 Days Drunk. The creative spark has been re-lit and with the use of today’s technology they have started working on new songs together with plans to release each new single as they are recorded independently.

3 Days Drunk can be found online at http://reverbnation.com/3daysdrunk http://myspace.com/3daysdrunk http://youtube.com/3daysdrunk and can be downloaded from iTunes at http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/3-days-drunk/id380466389

Wednesday, November 24, 2010 is NATIONAL OPT-OUT DAY!

Wednesday, November 24, 2010 is NATIONAL OPT-OUT DAY!

It's the day ordinary citizens stand up for their rights, stand up for liberty, and protest the federal government's desire to virtually strip us naked or submit to an "enhanced pat down" that touches people's breasts and genitals in an aggressive manner. You should never have to explain to your children, "Remember that no stranger can touch or see your private area, unless it's a government employee, then it's OK."

The goal of National Opt Out Day is to send a message to our lawmakers that we demand change. We have a right to privacy and buying a plane ticket should not mean that we're guilty until proven innocent. This day is needed because many people do not understand what they consent to when choosing to fly.

Britney Spears' demos were lost in the fire!

Britney Spears' demos were lost in the fire!

by James Foytlin on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 9:43pm

I have gotten word that music producer Rusko, who is currently contributing to Britney Spears' upcoming album, suffered a devastating loss yesterday when his car exploded in his driveway and it set fire to his house! His home, cars, and studio were all destroyed in literally an hour, and although he managed to escape with his hard drive, all of his Britney's demos were lost in the fire! No one was seriously injured, but imagine what it must be like to literally lose everything like this!

There’s no question your systems are going to fail at some point with a resulting loss of data . Maybe not as dramatic as this but , “it’s a 100 percent certainty.” The only question is when. Businesses that don’t adequately protect their data will inevitably suffer. Daily backup must be part of any computer system.

Give yourself peace of mind that your data is secure and you are in compliance with all relevant data retention requirements. I urge you to make your backup system a priority. I’ll be happy to advise you on any specific business needs and focus on the best data protection strategy for your business at the lowest cost.

Google Me : the Social Phenomenon

Google Me , the Movie

A documentary by Jim Killeen
Starring 7 guys named Jim Killeen

http://www.googlemethemovie.com/

"It all started when I Googled my name," said Killeen of his movie. And who in today's day and age hasn't engaged in just such an activity in a moment of idle "webbing." The difference here that the filmmaker actually followed up on his findings by not only contacting his namesakes but also traveling to whatever remote location called for to meet and interview the subjects of his search.

Famed Obama 'Hope' poster artist losing hope

By Aamer Madhani, National Journal

The artist whose poster of Barack Obama became a rallying image during the hope-and-change election of 2008 says he understands why so many people have lost faith.

In an exclusive interview with National Journal on Thursday, Shepard Fairey expressed his disappointment with the president -- a malaise that seems representative of many Democrats who had great expectations for Obama.

the Bridgehampton Polo Club

the Bridgehampton Polo Club

And yes I went to the Hamptons for a Polo Event. It's been a while but the Bridgehampton Polo Club for the Mercedes Benz Challenge seemed like a good spot to get reacquainted with the sport. I was accompanied by the Tri-States own ArtChick most of you know her as a club photographer extraordinaire and she is now one of the hottest wedding photographers money can buy.

For Artchick it was her first time in the Hamptons. She really seemed to enjoyed photographing the horses and the event from behind the scenes. She dug right in with her usual vigor and at one point we almost interjected our self into the match and were quite relieved not to get stomped on . Artchick held her ground and got some amazing shots in all the ensuing kaos.

We opted out of the VIP festivities and decided on the more traditional tail gate. I dawned my yellow summer afternoon cocktail jacket and personified the picture of Hamptons society circuit. The traditional Divot stomping at half-time with spectators wander all over was a hoot and gives you a good feeling of the vastness of the size of the field. It's fun and a great opportunity to meet people .

the Great Falls of Paterson

the Great Falls of Paterson

I visited the Great Falls ,it s actually very easy to get to , just head down Route 4 west till it turns into Broadway ,just keep going til you cant go any farther ,then make a right and you are there.

Lets retrace the steps Alexander Hamilton took in 1778, when he visited the breathtaking falls and was impressed by its huge potential for industry. As Secretary of Treasury, he selected the site of the nation's first planned industrial city, which he called a "national manufactory." In 1791, Hamilton helped found the Society for the Establishment of Useful Manufactures (S.U.M.), state-chartered private corporation to fulfill this vision. The town of Paterson was founded by the society and named after New Jersey Governor William Paterson in appreciation of his efforts to promote the society.

The falls became the nucleus for a burgeoning mill industry ie.. silk city, with construction of numerous canals known as raceways. In 1793, the falls was the site of the first water-powered cotton spinning mill in New Jersey. In 1812, it was the site of the state's first continuous roll paper mill. Other products whose construction used the falls as a power source include the Rogers Locomotive Works (1832), the gun that won the west the Colt revolver (1837),and the USS Holland (SS-1) (1898).

After the years of declin the area fell into disuse .In 1971, the Great Falls Preservation and Development Corporation were established to restore and redevelop the historic mill buildings and raceways. On June 6, 1976, President Ford designated the Falls and its surrounding area as a National Natural Landmark.

Hall of Fame ,baseball legend Yogi Berra misses Old Timers Day

Hall of Fame ,baseball legend Yogi Berra misses Old Timers Day

Hall of Fame ,baseball legend Yogi Berra, one of the most beloved Yankees, didn’t participate at the Yankees old timers day after taking a fall at his Montclair, NJ, home last night. Sources say that Berra is resting comfortably at home and didn’t feel up to it today. Berra suffered no broken bones but a few bumps and bruises , It was said Berra was disappointed he won’t be able to make the festivities.

http://www.manhattanstyle.com/sports/hall-of-fame-baseball-legend-yogi-berra-misses-old-timers-day/

Berra had had a long running 14 year fued with the “BOSS” George Steinbrenner but he and Steinbrenner had made up , Berra spoke this week of looking forward to Old Timers’ Day and paying tribute to the “BOSS” George Steinbrenner. Berra, 85,a fan favorite always gets one of the loudest ovations at old timers celebrations at the stadium.

Yogi Berra played 18 seasons for the Yankees and managed the team twice. He was a three-time American League MVP and in later years he became know as a baseball philosopher coining phases like “it aint over till it’s over” or “aint over till the fat lady sings”. Once Berra was asked ,”what time was it ?” and he responded with his usually humor “you mean now”

Mr. October Reggie Jackson silence says it all

Mr. October Reggie Jackson silence says it all

Mr. October Reggie Jackson a silent pause on the "BOSS" George Steinbrenner death.

http://www.manhattanstyle.com/sports/mr-october-reggie-jackson-surprising-silent-on-the-boss-george-steinbrenner-death/

This weeks passing of George Steinbrenner left one major players of the Yankee 1977,78 Bronx Zoo triumvirate surprising silent. The silence came from non-other than Mr. October ,Reggie Jackson, the baseball player who too many symbolises the very free-spending, championship-winning at all cost ways that the "BOSS" George Steinbrenner would become synonymous with .

Jackson was simply too overcome with emotion to speak. He even cancelled an interview with FOX News Jackson during FOX’s national telecast of the All-Star Game, sitting instead in the box of Angels owner Artie Moreno to watch the game played the night of Steinbrenner’s passing .Jackson then declined many requests for interviews ,finally issuing a statement through the Yankee public relations department late Wednesday. It wasn’t until Old-Timers’ Day on Saturday at Yankee Stadium that Jackson found himself able to speak publicly for the first time since Steinbrenner’s death. Jackson would later explain in an uncharacteristic subdued tone that he had had regular chats with the "BOSS", talking baseball ,and was taken off guard by Steinbrenners death .

Most would remember Mr October for his huge ego aggrandising ways and show boating that he made famous as well as the on field off the field antics between him, Billy Martin, George Steinbrenner . Those teams were consistently beating the many obstacles as well as the team in the opposite dugout. Those late 1970s teams like the city it self were always fighting on multiple fronts, from the office of the meddling owner to the office of the explosive manager to the locker of the attention-starved star. The Bronx would burn ,Son of Sam was on the prowl ,punk rock was on the move, the disco was burning down and the city was on ever shaky financial ground.

Like many others there were certainly low points to be sure, but ultimately the two found the road back to friendship . Jackson said “We were never enemies,” “There are players and owners in history who are tied together. I’m proud to be tied to him. That will never change.” Jackson was happy to overlook the craziness of the back-to-back title years of 1977-78 ,but who in New York wasn't crazy in those days ? So in the end Reggie Jackson's silence said it all and a chapter in Yankee history had come to a close.

The tumultuous 37-year reign of George Steinbrenner as owner of the New York Yankees came to an end

http://www.manhattanstyle.com/arts-entertainment/new-york-icon/the-boss-george-steinbrenner-dies-at-80/

The "BOSS" George Steinbrenner Dies at 80

The tumultuous 37-year reign of George Steinbrenner as owner of the New York Yankees came to an end this morning with the death of the Boss from a massive heart attack. Steinbrenner or the BOSS led the Yankees to 11 American League Pennants and 7 World Series .

He was one of those larger than life heroic New York Personalities. Outspoken and brash like the city it self .Who’s raise and fall and raise again was so much a part of the New York experience. Love him or hate the Boss was one of those people that makes New York what it is.Steinbrenner had a huge impact on the city, baseball and was an inspiration for a generation of 70's kids who grew up through the worst of times in New York City. Through the crime ,the fiscal crisis ,son of sam ,the Bronx is burning and even disco Steinbrenner delivered back to back titles in 77 and 78 when Yankee fans and New Yorkers needed it the most .And later even after the September 11th attacks the Yankees played ball.

Steinbrenner headed a group of investors who bought the Yankees from CBS in 1973 for mere $10 million. Today the franchise is the most valuable sports franchise in the world ,worth somewhere near $1 billion.

After the purchase in 1973, Steinbrenner quickly established himself as a larger than life unique firebrand, earning fame, admiration and ire for his impulsive personnel moves, pioneering business strategies, and win-at-all-costs New York mentality. Representing the will to overcome all odds in precisely the same will New Yorkers display meeting every challenge they face daily.

The Boss spared with managers and players and was perhaps more known in his early Yankee years for having it out with the likes of Reggie Jackson, Billy Martin and Dave Winfield.

The Boss was a larger than life figure and a force in the industry. His truly heroic rise and success of his teams on the field and in the business area are a testament to his skill, drive, and determination. It was his trade make and became the Yankee way ,the winning way .

As the wild days of the 1970's gave way to the class acts of the Joe Torre years the Yankees became the most popular and profitable team in the nation. Pardoned by President Reagan, feuded with Hall of Fame’er Yogi Berra suspended from baseball by Bowie Kuhn ,owner ,business man and number one fan ,going though managers like most men go though socks ,there will never be another one like the “BOSS” George Steinbrenner.

Oakland Athletics Dallas Braden hurls perfect game.

Dallas Braden,Oakland Athletics lefty, fired a perfect game against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays in a 4-0 victory. It was the 19th perfect game in major league history and only the 18th victory of Braden’s career. Braden recently gained a measure of fame when he criticized the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez for breaking the number one unspoken rule of crossing the mound after a foul ball, considered a major break with baseball etiquette.

Braden threw his perfect game on 109 pitches. He retired Gabe Kapler on a grounder to shortstop Cliff Pennington for the final out. In Chicago last July, Kapler was also the last out hitting a deep fly ball in the ninth inning against he White Sox . DeWayne Wise corralled the ball at the wall, saving Mark Buehrle’s perfect game.

Braden, 26, is the youngest pitcher to throw a perfect game since the Angels’ Mike Witt in 1984, when he was 24. The last pitcher with fewer career victories at the time of his perfect game was Charlie Robertson, whose 1922 gem for the White Sox was his second career win.

Punk rock guru Malcolm McLaren dies aged 64

By VIRGINIA WHEELER

Published: Today

MALCOLM McLaren was the outrageous icon who boasted that he invented punk rock - and unleashed the Sex Pistols on the world.

The legendary impresario, who died yesterday, achieved notoriety when the band's anti-establishment single God Save The Queen hit No1 during Her Majesty's 1977 silver jubilee.

Last night Pistols frontman John Lydon, dubbed Johny Rotten , said: "For me Malc was always entertaining, and I hope you remember that.

"Above all else he was an entertainer. I'll miss him and so should you."

Mellowed ... Malcolm McLaren with partner Young Kim last month

NEW YORK CITY'S 25th ANNUAL APRIL FOOLS' DAY PARADE

The New York April Fools' Committee Is Proud to Announce:
NEW YORK CITY'S 25th ANNUAL

"Up, Up and Away!"New York, New York, March 24, 2010 -- The 25th Annual April Fools' Day Parade will begin at Fifth Avenue and 59th Street at 12 noon, Thursday, April 1, 2010. Rain or shine, the parade will march down 5th Avenue to Washington Square Park for the post-parade festivities and selection of the King or Queen of Fools from the costumed marching look-alikes.

The theme for this year's parade is "Up, Up and Away." Led by Grand Marshall Ben Bernanke, the parade will kick off with the Where's-the-Money Marching Band playing this year's theme song by the Fifth Dimension "Up, Up and Away in My Beautiful Balloon." Color commentary will be provided by Sarah Palin for her new Fox TV show "We Make It Up, You Believe It." Thanks to a contribution by a secret donor in honor of the parade's 25th anniversary, 10,000 red, white and blue helium balloons, each with a crisp one-dollar bill attached, will be released along the parade route.

The floats this year will be led by Richard and Mayumi Heene with their Homemade Helium Flying Saucer Float. Next will be the Northwest Airlines Flight 188 "Siesta" Cockpit Float with pilot Timothy B. Cheney and first officer Richard I. Cole napping. Then a North Korea Missile Launch Float will launch H2O bombs into the crowd. The OK Corral Float will follow featuring Washington Wizards basketball stars Gilbert Arena and Javaris Crittenton with their guns a'blazing. Although we don't know what will be going on inside, Washington's "C" Street House Float will come next. Then comes the Late Night TV Roman Chariot Race with Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and David Letterman pulled by network execs instead of horses as they battle for position.

The marching celebrity look-alikes will include Michael Jackson's dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein shouting "Who wants my sperm?" followed by South Carolina Republican Representative Joe Wilson proclaiming "You lie!", Ex-CNN Commentator Lou Dobbs demanding "Where's Obama's birth certificate?" and Charlie Sheen threatening "I'm gonna kill you!". Tiger Woods will be swinging a golf club yelling "Fore...Play" while Glenn Beck declares "Obama is a racist!" Joan Rivers will take up the rear screaming at anyone who will listen "How dare they! Don't they know who I am?"

As the parade ends at Washington Square Park, the party begins, featuring live music, food, concessions & entertainment. There will be an Interracial Marriage Chapel officiated by Louisiana Judge Keith Bardwell; a Gay Marriage Counseling Booth manned by Miss California, Carrie Prejean; a Marriage Counseling Booth manned by South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford; and a David Carradine Enhanced Sexual Techniques Booth. The U.S. Secret Service will stand guard by a Meet-the-President Booth where President Obama will dispense "change pills" for change you can swallow. White House Gate Crashers Michele and Tareq Salahi were not invited but are expected to show up anyway. There will also be a Concealed Bomb Fashion Show featuring underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab; a Free Toys-for-Tots Giveaway of Cadmium-Enriched Toys, sponsored by the Chinese Manufacturers Association; and, in the FDA's effort to dispose of excess vaccines, a Free Swine Flu Vaccine Booth. Jerry Springer will conduct a Town Hall Meeting on Health Care Reform funded by multimillionaire ex-hospital CEO Rick Scott, whose company was charged with the largest case of financial fraud in U.S. history.

The New York April Fools' Day Parade was created in 1986 to remedy a glaring omission in the long list of New York's annual ethnic and holiday parades. These events fail to recognize the importance of April 1st, the day designated to commemorate the perennial folly of mankind. In an attempt to bridge this gap and bring people back in touch with their inherent foolishness, the parade annually crowns a King of Fools from parading look-alikes.

The public is encouraged to participate, in or out of costume, with or without floats, and may join the procession at any point along the parade route. Floats can be no wider than 10' and no longer than 25'. They can be self-propelled, towed, pushed or pulled. Customized bicycles, tricycles, baby carriages and aerial balloons are welcome. All participants are costumed look-alikes, and the Parade Committee assumes no liability for damages caused by satire. Parade floats and marchers must be at 59th Street and Fifth Ave no later than 11:30 a.m.

We are grateful to the New York State Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts and Mayor Michael Bloomberg for their support of this year's parade. Also, in honor of this parade's 25th anniversary, we humbly thank the thousands of talented artists and craftsmen who have contributed to the parade's success over the years. The King or Queen of Fools will be chosen based on the loudest cheers at Washington Square Park. The winner will reign through March 31, 2011.

Americans have a love-hate relationship with Valentine’s Day

Sunday, February 14, 2010

(Rasmussen Reports) Americans have a love-hate relationship with Valentine’s Day.

Thirty-six percent (36%) of adults look forward to Cupid's holiday, but 20% dread it. A plurality (43%) are indifferent to today's holiday.

Interestingly, more men look forward to Valentine’s Day than women. Adults ages 18 to 29 dread it more than those in any other age group.

Those who are married and those who are unmarried feel pretty much the same about Valentine's Day, but adults with children look forward to February 14 more than those who have no children.

STATEMENT BY WYCLEF JEAN ON HAITI EARTHQUAKE

http://video.foxnews.com/v/3968850/wyclef-jean-on-ground-in-haiti

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 02:05PM

“Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced.

The magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks – struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince.

I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now.

President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands ‘ready to assist’ the Haitian people. The U.S. Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible. The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible.”

Many people have already reached out to see what they can do right now. We are asking those interested to please do one of two things: Either you can use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill), or you can click here to DONATE. https://co.clickandpledge.com/advanced/default.aspx?wid=23093

Thank you,
Wyclef
