A Subway Series is a series of Major League Baseball games played between teams based in New York City; referring to the fact that every potential venue for such a game is accessible through the Subway. The term's historic usage has been in reference to World Series games played between New York teams.

The New York Yankees have appeared in all Subway Series games as they have been the only American League team in the city, and have compiled an 11–3 record in the fourteen championship Subway Series. Since 1997, the term Subway Series has also been applied informally to interleague play during the regular season between the Yankees and National League New York Mets, although the term is still most commonly associated with World Series play.

The Intrepid launches its summer programming over Memorial Day weekend

The Intrepid launches its summer programming over Memorial Day weekend, kicking things off with a free screening of classic Cruise flick Top Gun (May 24 at 7:30pm). On May 25 and May 26, watch demonstrations and performances by the U.S. Coast Guard, USO Show Troupe and others. Honor fallen servicemen and women at a Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony (May 27 at 11am), or listen to Emmy Award–winning news anchor David Ushery discuss the nation’s segregated WWII armed forces with veterans (May 28 6–7:30pm; R.S.V.P. to educationevents@intrepidmuseum.org).

TD Five Boro Bike Tour

What to Expect:
Held annually the first Sunday in May, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour presented by REI is America’s largest cycling event. The Tour is co-produced by Bike New York and the New York City Department of Transportation. The event provides participants the unique and fun experience to bike through all five boroughs – a 40 mile, car-free ride for 32,000 cyclists.

What Will I See:
The TD Five Boro Bike Tour presented by REI travels through the five boroughs of New York City on car-free roads, thanks to the cooperation of City agencies and officials. At 40 miles, the route is doable for cyclists of almost all levels.  Visit our route map page to learn more!
