Today is the 56th Annual Steuben Day Parade. The Parade marches up Fifth Avenue from 68th to 86th Street, starting at 12pm and finishing between 3 and 4pm, leading into New York City´s largest Oktoberfest in Central Park.

The 9/11 Memorial site is closed to general public

A preliminary outline of the event program is as follows (details and times subject to change):

·  8:39 a.m. - Program begins

·  8:46 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time AA Flight 11 struck North Tower, houses of worship will toll their bells throughout the city)

·  Families of victims of 2001 and 1993 attacks will begin reading the names in pairs

·  There will be 100 pairs (200 readers) who will continue until all names are read

·  Music will provide a backdrop throughout the program

·  9:03 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time UA Flight 175 struck South Tower)

·  Reading of names continues/music resumes

·  9:37 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time AA Flight 77 struck the Pentagon)

·  Reading of names continues/music resumes

·  9:59 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time of fall of the South Tower)

·  Reading of names continues/music resumes

·  10:03 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time UA Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania)

·  Reading of names continues/music resumes

·  10:28 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time of fall of the North Tower)

·  Reading of names continues to conclusion/music resumes

·  Reading of names concludes

·  12:30 p.m. - Program concludes


ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

Honor Guard: An honor guard made up of individuals representing Fire Department (FDNY), Police Department (NYPD), and Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) will participate in the ceremony.

List of Names: A complete list of the names of the 2,983 victims of the 2001 attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, along with the victims of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing will be posted on NYC.gov/mediaadviorsy prior to the start of the ceremony. Names will be read in alphabetical order as they are listed.

Readers List: A complete list of names of the readers will be posted on NYC.gov/mediaadviorsy prior to the start of the ceremony. Readers names will be posted in the order that they are scheduled to read but changes will occur during the course of the program.

TRIBUTE IN LIGHT

The "Tribute in Light" will return for one night as a tribute to all those who were lost on September 11th. The lights are located at West and Morris Streets in lower Manhattan. The lights will be on beginning at sunset on September 11, 2013 and fading away at dawn on September 12th. There will be no formal program. The lights are best seen when it is completely dark; sunset is expected to occur at 7:11 p.m. that night and sunrise is expected to occur at 6:34 a.m. on the morning of September 12th.

DRIVING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET CLOSURES

The following is a list of streets in the area of lower Manhattan that will be impacted by the events surrounding the annual September 11th Memorial Ceremony:

·  West Street will remain OPEN to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. However trucks will not be permitted northbound on West Street from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Vesey Street. Trucks will be diverted from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Trinity Place/Church Street to travel north.

·  Church Streets/Trinity Place and Broadway will remain OPEN.

·  The Liberty Street pedestrian bridge will be closed from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.

The following streets will be closed to traffic from 12:01 AM until 5:00 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2013 (subject to change). Pedestrian access will be very limited:

·  Liberty, Cedar, and Thames Streets between Greenwich Street and Trinity Place

·  Greenwich Street between Liberty and Carlisle streets

·  Albany Street between West and Greenwich streets

·  Washington Street between Liberty and Carlisle streets

·  Vesey Street between Church Street and Broadway

87th ANNUAL FEAST OF SAN GENNARO TO TAKE PLACE SEPTEMBER 12-22, 2013

The 87th Annual Feast of San Gennaro will be held in Little Italy for 11 days from Thursday, September 12, through Sunday, September 22, 2013, on the streets of historic Little Italy, the lower Manhattan neighborhood which served as the first home in America for hundreds of thousands of Italian immigrants who came here seeking to improve their lives beginning in the early part of the 20th century.

Presented annually since 1996 by Figli di San Gennaro, Inc. (Children of San Gennaro), a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to keeping alive the spirit and faith of the early Italian immigrants, this year’s Feast is expected once again to attract more than one-million people from the four corners of the globe to the streets of Little Italy to participate in the annual Salute to the Patron Saint of Naples.

Although this is an annual celebration of faith, the Feast of San Gennaro is known the world over for its festive atmosphere, an 11-day event featuring religious processions and colorful parades, free musical entertainment every day, a wide variety of ethnic food delicacies, charming restaurants and cafes and even a world-famous cannoli-eating competition! The central focus of the celebration takes place every September 19th, the official Saint Day when a celebratory Mass is held in Most Precious Blood Church, followed immediately by a religious procession in which the Statue of San Gennaro is carried from its permanent home in the church through the streets that comprise Little Italy.

All identified Lost & Found items will be available for retrieval on Randall's Island at the white tent located at the backstage entrance behind Main Stage West (south of Icahn Stadium): WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY ONLY FROM 10 AM - 6 PM.

"The founders of Electric Zoo send our deepest condolences to the families of the two people who passed away this weekend. Because there is nothing more important to us than our patrons, we have decided in consultation with the New York City Parks Department that there will be no show today."

nyc.gov-"Due to serious health risks, the Electric Zoo music festival on Randall's Island on Sunday, September 1st has been cancelled. The City recommended cancellation and the event promoters have agreed.

During the first two days of the Electric Zoo music festival, two concert-goers have died and at least four others became critically ill and have been placed in intensive care at area hospitals. Definitive causes of death have not yet been determined, however, both appear to have involved the drug MDMA (ecstasy, or molly). The Electric Zoo organizers have worked with City officials to reduce health risks at this event, but in view of these occurrences, the safest course is to cancel the remaining day of the event"
