The Annual Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival

On Easter Sunday, (April 20, 2014) you have the opportunity to see Easter bonnets to the New York City extreme as "paraders" wander along Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets. The area around St. Patrick's Cathedral is the ideal place to see the parade. The Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

What You Should Know About the Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival

Unlike most New York City Parades, the Easter Parade is a far less organized event. From 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. the area along Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets is closed to vehicular traffic, and folks wander the street admiring various Easter Bonnets and Easter outfits. Visitors in town during Easter will enjoy stopping by the area for a bit during the festivities, but seeing the various Easter bonnets and costumed pets .

The Tribeca Film Festival April 16 - 27, 2014

The Tribeca Film Festival is a film festival that was founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff . Many claim the festival was a response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the consequent loss of vitality in the Tribeca neighborhood in Lower Manhattan , some put the planning for the festival  prior to the events of 9/11.

The mission of the festival is "to enable the international film community and the general public to experience the power of film by redefining the film festival experience." The Tribeca Film Festival was founded to celebrate New York City as a major filmmaking center and to contribute to the long-term recovery of lower Manhattan.

By 2006 and 2007, the Festival received over 8600 film submissions and held 1,500 screenings.

The Festival's program line-up includes a variety of independent films including documentaries, narrative features and shorts, as well as a program of family-friendly films.

The Festival also features panel discussions with personalities in the entertainment world and a music lounge produced with ASCAP to showcase artists.

One of the more distinctive components of the Festival is its Artists Awards program in which emerging and renowned artists celebrate filmmakers by providing original works of art that are given to the filmmakers' competition winners. Past artists of the Artists Awards program have included Chuck Close, Alex Katz, and Julian Schnabel.

The festival now draws an estimated three million people—including often-elusive celebrities from the worlds of art, film, and music—and generates $600 million annually.

2014 St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City

The Parade will take place on Monday, March 17, 2014 starting at 11 a.m. on 5th Avenue around 44th Street. The parade takes place on March 17, except when March 17 falls on a Sunday (as it did in 2013), and then it is held on Saturday. Toward the north end of the St. Patrick's Day Parade route are the best viewing spots if you want to avoid the crowds that throng the sidewalks below 59th Street. The Parade ends at 79th Street, around 2 or 3 p.m.

Keep in mind that the grandstands are located between 62nd and 64th Streets, so that area is accessible only with a ticket, but if you score a spot close to the grandstands, you might be able to see the marchers performing for the judges. The crowd is densest at St. Patrick's Cathedral and in the area immediately around there and tends to lessen as you move north along the parade route.

The NYC Half Marathon This Sunday

The NYC Half Marathon - Sunday 3/16/14

The NYC Half Marathon is this coming Sunday the 16th. It begins at 7:30am and will finish sometime after mid-day. Attached is a map of the route that the runners will follow and below is a link to their website for additional race info.

The race will also definitely affect traffic for the better part of the day. Make sure to add additional travel time for your guests to get to the airports, at least 45min to 1 hour, so they can make their flights. Tour bus routes will also be affected. We will update you when we have more information on the route changes.

GETTING THERE:

Train:
From Penn Station New York, take a Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Morris & Essex Lines or Montclair-Boonton Line train (NJT) to Secaucus Junction.

Upon arrival at Secaucus, you will go up to the rotunda, pass through fare gates and proceed to the tracks where Meadowlands Rail Line trains depart. The train ride from Secaucus to Meadowlands Rail Station is approximately 10 minutes

REMEMBER – You must have a parking permit to arrange transportation.  Allot plenty of time suggesting when to go.  You do not want a guest to come back and blame you for making them late to the Superbowl.  Insist on 3 full hours of travel time to the stadium (and security).  Bets to leave 3 hours prior to when they want to arrive.  The game starts at 6pm (please note no one should plan on arriving at 6pm, I would suggest the latest a 4:30pm arrival).

PARKING THERE

Most of our private transportation companies will be requiring an 8-10 hour minimum at an increased rate for vehicles to the Superbowl.  All of them will require the guest to have a pre-purchased parking pass.  YOU CANNOT MAKE ANY TRANSPORTATION RESERVATIONS UNLESS YOU HAVE A  PARKING PASS.
